Banyan Earth School

Six months running social media for a Waldorf school, as a volunteer.

The Banyan Earth School website I built the presence for

I volunteered at Banyan Earth Waldorf School as their social media person for six months. Photographing the days, writing the captions, and building a steady voice for a school that had never really told its own story online.

Banyan Earth School is a Waldorf school in Noida, founded in 2023. Early childhood, ages one and a half to six. No early academic pressure, a lot of rhythm and play and time outdoors, and Indian seasons, festivals and crafts woven through the year rather than bolted onto it. I ran their social media for six months, unpaid.

Role

Photography, captions, content direction, posting.

Why I took it on

I liked what the school was doing, and it had almost no presence online. Those two facts sitting next to each other bothered me.

A school like this gets chosen by parents who are already quietly looking for an alternative to what they were offered, and who need to see enough of a place to trust it before they'll walk in. If it can't be found, it can't be chosen, and this felt like a solvable problem that nobody was solving.

The contradiction I decided to keep

There is an obvious tension in running an Instagram account for a school built around keeping young children away from screens. I didn't try to argue my way out of it. I let it set the rules instead.

Nothing urgent, nothing loud, no countdown-to-admissions energy, no trending audio for the sake of reach. The test I used was simple:

If a post would have felt wrong printed and pinned to the noticeboard at the school gate, it didn't go up.
